Steve Kerr and Eric Gordon have differing opinions on how the Western Conference Finals would’ve played out with no injuries.

The Golden State Warriors are going to the NBA Finals for the fourth year in a row after a scrappy showdown with the Houston Rockets, but the unfortunate part is that there was a major injury on each team.

Andre Iguodala missed the last four games of the series because of a leg contusion, and Chris Paul couldn’t play in Game 6 or Game 7 due to a hamstring sprain.

Kerr said to the Undefeated’s Marc J. Spears that “we would have won the series in five if Iggy played.”

This is a bit beneath Steve, who is probably the most blessed coach in history other than Phil Jackson. Those two guys stepped into their first NBA head coaching position with some of the best talent in the league. They both maximized the potential of their teams, but the sour grapes make Kerr look petty.

This was mainly just a clap back. Apparently, Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni told Kevin Durant during Game 7 that the result would’ve been different if Paul was in the match, and Eric Gordon expressed that afterwards as well.

“It sucks because you know you could win this series if we just had one more playmaker,” Gordon said to ESPN. “If we had Chris, if he was out there, we’d have been playing on Thursday. It’s just tough.”

The Rockets definitely had a better chance of winning the series with Paul healthy, but the Warriors could say the same thing about Iggy. He was the NBA Finals MVP at one point in time, for goodness’ sake.

None of these petty arguments mean anything at the end of the day, because the Warriors won 101-92 on Monday night, and they’ll now start prepping for LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Let’s hope that injuries don’t mar the NBA Finals in the way that they did the Western Conference Finals.
