12. Sylvain Lefebvre’s daughter’s baptism
After the Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 1996, defenseman Sylvain Lefebvre decided it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have his newborn daughter baptized in it.
Given the places the Cup has been and the indiscretions it has seen, I’m not 100 percent sure I’d want to do this myself, but given the opportunity, it’s not something many can say they’ve done. It’s also a pretty damn cool story for Lefebure’s daughter.
How many of your friends were baptized in the Stanley Cup?
Lefebvre was probably the first, but not the only player to take advantage of this situation. In 2008, Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Holmstrom had his daughter baptized in the Cup, as well. More recently in 2017, Josh Archibald’s son Brecken became the newest Cup-baptized hockey child.

Don’t be surprised if these children turn into hockey mega-stars. Being baptized in the Cup is probably the best way to kick off your hockey career.
