5. Claude Lemieux takes the Cup to Howard Stern

Claude Lemieux of the 1995 New Jersey Devil’s might be the Cup’s best (or worst) prankster. After taking his day with the Cup to the Howard Stern show, Lemieux, Stern and the other cast members played a prank on listeners a one of Howard’s co-hosts pretended to defecate in the Cup.

While this lines up perfectly with Stern Show humor, it rubbed some fans the wrong way. Crapping in the Cup is okay if you are an infant baby, but apparently we draw the line at full-blown adult doing it on purpose.

It is fun to imagine the listeners going through several emotions during this skit. Using the Cup as your personal toilet is definitely bad radio in a sense, but pretending to do so would leave thousands of listeners in shock, disgust and disbelief.

If this prank had occurred in 2018, fans would be burning Lemieux jerseys faster than they could announce that the whole thing was a joke.

Lemieux being involved in a prank such as this was no surprise to anyone who watched him play. He was widely hated by many for his play on the ice, which was often dirty. With a hit from behind on Kris Draper, he sparked one of the more violent rivalries in the NHL. Here is a breakdown of the whole saga. It’s worth the nine-minute watch:

Thankfully for the Cup, this Stern skit was as much of a joke as Claude Lemieux. Boom. Roasted.
