1. Mauro Icardi

The big one. The best striker in Serie A this season, leading all with an awesome 29 goals in 34 games. The fact he’s been omitted from going to the World Cup is downright wrong. All he does is score goals.

He brought Inter Milan back into the Champions League. The 25-year-old is one of the deadliest strikers in the world, and Chelsea need to wake up and get him. Reports are that if Sarri is manager, he’ll want to bring in Icardi immediately.

Morata was supposed to be the man to carry Chelsea into the future. Lately he’s been on the bench, subbed on late against United in the FA Cup final. That’s not why you signed him to a record deal. He could be used in a swap deal for Icardi, which would make it a more affordable deal. But whether that’s likely is something we’ll have to monitor as time passes.

Make no mistake, a striker that scores goals and wins matches is priceless in today’s game. Chelsea need a 20-goal striker. Morata couldn’t do it this season, and while there’s a chance he figures things out, Icardi seems like a better option. Roman Abramovich won’t like his club being in the Europa League, so he’ll have to spend big in order to be in the upper-echelon of Europe in 2018-19. Icardi would be a good start.
