After starting the year 11-1, the Mets are sitting at .500 with injuries to Noah Syndergaard, Yoenis Cespedes, and Steven Matz, how can they turn this around?

Well, here we go again. If you’re a Mets fan, you’ve seen this story before. In fact, you saw it just last year. How lucky are Mets fans to be able to see a sequel to last year’s injury prone disaster, as soon as this year?

So let’s recap the Mets season thus far. They started out the season with 6 quality expected starters, turning this into an 11-1 start. However, they weren’t getting many innings out of this starting rotation, but the bullpen was excellent. If they got a lead, the bullpen would hold it, and otherwise the bullpen would keep the team in the game long enough for the offense to get in front.

Unfortunately, the Mets have lost 6 of their last 8, leading in all the losses. The bullpen is no longer getting the job done and it is costing the team. In those 8 games, they have a 7.67 ERA, are giving up a .410 wOBA, and have 5 blown saves. 5 blown saves in 8 games. 5 … in 8. Hopefully, getting Anthony Swarzak back soon should help.

Jacob DeGrom gets to be the maddest. Over this stretch, he went 7 innings twice, giving up 0 runs the first time, and 1 run the second time. The Mets lost both of those games. It is incredible that DeGrom has only 4 wins this year, despite a 1.52 ERA.

Now, the Mets are at a point where they are clawing for pitching depth. After a doubleheader Monday, Steven Matz only able to go 3 innings before being hurt, Jason Vargas moving up a day due to Syndergaard’s injury, and Seth Lugo having to start a game, the Mets bullpen is about to be pushed to its limit.

That doesn’t even mention that Yoenis Cespedes’s big bat hasn’t been in the lineup due to an injury. So what trades can get the Mets back on track to win this year?
