3. J.A. Happ and Seunghwan Oh

The Blue Jays have the capabilities to provide the Mets with more pitching on 2 fronts. These two would also help the Mets continue their pattern of acquiring aging talent. That being said, they are both having very good years and could help the Mets push to the playoffs.

This year, Happ is showing that he has adjusted to his aging body and is pitching at a very high level. If he maintains his 1.112 WHIP, it would be the best of his career. The same goes for his 4.39 strikeout to walk ratio. He is taking advantage of players looking to lift the baseball by throwing higher in the zone, resulting in a career high strikeout rate. Happ would help give the Mets pitching staff with a consistency they don’t get outside of DeGrom.

Seunghwan Oh would help to give the Mets another strong arm in the bullpen. While he is unfortunately also a righty, he gives up the same batting average to lefties as Jerry Blevins. So, the Mets may just have to accept that they don’t have a lefty specialist until Blevins turns it around.

To get these two would likely take at least Justin Dunn and Thomas Szapucki. This trade would simply provide the Mets with stability, something they are in dire need of.
