Minnesota Vikings: Mike Remmers vs. Brian O’Neill

The Minnesota Vikings will head into the 2018 season fresh off an appearance in the NFC Championship Game. During the 2017 campaign, the Vikings got great play from quarterback Case Keenum, who has been replaced as the starter in Minnesota by Kirk Cousins heading into next season.

Keenum caught lightning in a bottle last season, and parlayed his great play into a nice contract with the Denver Broncos. Cousins is a better option under center in my opinion, and now the offensive line will have to start to take shape during organized team activities and minicamps.

One position battle that has caught my attention is between Brian O’Neill and Mike Remmers at right tackle. It is pretty obvious that Riley Reiff is going to be on the left side, and while the team expects Remmers to start, O’Neill is a pretty high draft choice.

O’Neill was one of the best offensive tackles in college football during his time at Pittsburgh, and the Vikings liked him so much that they drafted him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. A big man with great feet, his game will translate well to the NFL, and he could start for the Vikings in year one.

Running back Dalvin Cook is going to be back healthy in 2018, so it is very important that the team solidifies the offensive line in front of him. This Vikings team is one of the deepest in all of football, and if they can get a stellar season out of Cousins, they could once again find themselves playing for a spot in the Super Bowl.
