Red Sox at Astros

Red Sox Probable Starter – Drew Pomeranz, LHP

6.75 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 20.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .308 average, .341 wOBA, 50.0 fly ball rate and 31.8 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .308 average, .403 wOBA, 40.0 fly ball rate and 36.3 hard contact rate

Sometimes when we find a pitcher nobody will play, we can use that as leverage and try to snag someone who will be low-owned. Nobody is going to play Drew Pomeranz tonight and you shouldn’t think about doing it either. He’s made seven starts and six of them have been under 30 FanDuel points. The Astros offense is top 11 in baseball in average, OPS, ISO and wOBA against lefties. That’s with Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve having a .311 and .283 wOBA against lefties so far this year. As far as the hitters go, give me all of the Max Stassi. He’s going to catch often with Brian McCann on the DL and carries a .540 wOBA against lefties in 34 plate appearances. Oh, he’s $2,500 and plenty of folks won’t play a catcher on FanDuel. It’s open season on Pomeranz tonight.

Astros Hitters to Target

Elite Options – Max Stassi, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, George Springer

Secondary Options – Tony Kemp, Evan Gattis, Alex Bregman

Astros Probable Starter – Lance McCullers, RHP

3.98 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 26.4 strikeout rate

Vs LHH – .172 average, .276 wOBA, 31.2 fly ball rate and 32.5 hard contact rate

Vs RHH – .263 average, .309 wOBA, 25.9 fly ball rate and 32.9 hard contact rate

As an unabashed Lance McCullers fan, it always bums me out when he’s on a slate and I won’t think about using him. That’s going to be the case tonight since he’s taking on the vaunted Red Sox offense. By the splits, this isn’t a great spot for McCullers either. He’s worse to righty hitters and the two best hitters for the Sox are right handed. Mookie Betts has a chance to be back in the lineup tonight but we’ve heard that the past few days. J.D. Martinez continues to destroy worlds and I’d play him before Betts this evening. I’m not crazy about McCullers tonight but I’m likely not going to be heavy on the Sox either.

Red Sox Hitter to Target

Secondary Options – Xander Bogaerts, Mitch Moreland

Home Run Pick – Alex Bregman
