New England Patriots — Teddy Bridgewater

This would be classic Belichick. Not only would he be rescuing a distressed asset, he’d be picking him off from a division rival. Plus, Bridgewater was widely considered the best quarterback in the 2014 draft, the same year the Patriots drafted Jimmy Garoppolo.

Bridgewater has a chance to jumpstart his career with the Jets this season, but Sam Darnold will be the guy there sooner rather than later and Bridgewater deserves the opportunity to start. The former 32nd pick of the Vikings hasn’t played meaningful NFL snaps since a devastating leg injury in August of 2016. But prior to that, Bridgewater had led Minnesota to a divisional title in 2015, even winning in Week 17 in Green Bay against Aaron Rodgers to take the NFC North crown.

He’s exactly the type of ultra-cerebral, accurate quarterback who would thrive in a Josh McDaniels offense and with the Patriots looking at quarterbacks in the last two drafts, they’re clearly planning for a post-Tom Brady universe.
