Seattle Seahawks – Chris Carson

John Schneider and Pete Carroll are always one for surprises and “surprise” is an accurate description for the team’s first-round selection in the 2018 Draft, San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny. But it’s another running back on the Seahawks’ roster who could be poised for a breakout season.

We didn’t get to see much of 2017 seventh-rounder Chris Carson in his rookie year, but what we did see was awfully impressive. As Seattle struggled to find consistency in the run game, Carson reeled off a number of impressive runs before suffering a broken leg in the Seahawks’ win over Indianapolis. The injury put a bow on Carson’s season, but he appears to be on track to return when the regular season starts.

Carson displayed a good ability to pass protect (something that was sorely lacking among Seattle’s running backs) and showed impressive power while running the ball, generating a broken tackle percentage of 37.5-percent.

The key to Carson’s season will ultimately be how many snaps he gets and how the team plans to utilize Penny and Mike Davis. The Seahawks have made no qualms about wanting to generate a better rushing attack and with a new stable of coaches and heavy roster turnover, they’re hoping Carson can be a key part of getting that run game back on track.
