Washington Redskins – Derrius Guice

Derrius Guice didn’t seem to make many friends during the 2018 NFL Draft process (see: getting into a fight with a potential employer during a job interview), but he could have the biggest impact of any rookie running back in 2018.

Guice had to wait until the second round to hear his name called but there’s no denying that his talent is first-round caliber. The former LSU star possesses an outstanding blend of speed and power, running with an attitude, a la Marshawn Lynch. While that may seem like a lofty comp, Washington is hoping that is precisely the type of impact Guice will bring to their running game.

Because he sat behind Leonard Fournette during most of his time at LSU, Guice has a bit less wear on his tires than most of the running backs in this class. And with Rob Kelley, Chris Tompson and Samaje Perine already in the fold, Washington won’t have to make Guice their workhorse right away.

Guice is the type of runner who can steamroll over defenders and immediately change the momentum of a game. While Saquon Barkley got most of the headlines in this running back class, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Guice ends up as the best of the bunch. For 2018 at least, consider him on the shortlist for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates.
