Ottawa Senators: Matthew Perry

The Ottawa Senators might have never won a Stanley Cup, but they’ve accomplished other things. For instance, they have one of funniest guys on the planet as a member of their fan base.

That would be Matthew Perry, although most people probably prefer to call him Chandler Bing. If you grew up in the 1990s and you didn’t watch Friends on a regular basis, have you even truly lived? I say definitely not.

Perry was one of the six stars of Friends — along with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer — which ran from 1994 to 2004. It’s one of the funniest shows of all time, so if somehow you haven’t seen it yet, I would definitely recommend making a trip over to Netflix.

In the meantime, however, Perry is a pretty big hockey fan. He spent most of his childhood living in Ottawa, Ontario, but when he was a teenager, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. Having since lived in Los Angeles for a very long time, Perry developed a love for the Los Angeles Kings, and has remained a fan of the Kings for most of his life, even celebrating with the Stanley Cup when the Kings won the title in 2012 and 2014.

But Perry became conflicted when the NHL brought back the Ottawa Senators in 1992. Knowing that there was once again a team in his hometown, he felt obligated to hold onto his roots and support the Senators. But at the same time, as a loyal fan of the Kings, he could never abandon them either. So he now splits his loyalties evenly between the Kings and the Senators, and whenever they play each other, he’s torn right down the middle and all bets are off.
