Philadelphia Flyers: David Boreanaz

You know actor David Boreanaz as Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well as FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth on Bones. But outside of the world of entertainment, Boreanaz is a hockey fanatic, and a diehard supporter of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Even though he was born in Buffalo, New York, his parents moved him and his two older sisters to Philadelphia when David was just seven years old. That’s a pretty normal age for children to start realizing that they care about sports. That’s also a pretty normal age for children to get sucked into the sports fan vortex, and once you’re in, there is no coming out.

That happened to David while he was growing up in Philadelphia. He developed a passion for the game of hockey, and became hooked on the hometown Flyers. Not a hard thing to do when you’re growing up in a one of the most intense and serious sports cities in the country. You aren’t going to find many fan bases that take their hockey more seriously than Philly fans.

Back in 2012, Boreanaz even penned an essay about his Flyers fandom ahead of the Winter Classic that year. He started by saying:

“All it took was one game at the old Spectrum, and I bled orange and black for life.”

Boreanaz went on to write a clip that really spoke wonders about the city of Philadelphia.

“There’s no team that completely reflects its city the way the Flyers do. Philadelphia is a blue-collar, hard-working city with a flair for excitement. Sure, it can be a little rough and tumble on the outside, but on the inside it’s just about the love for the game. All games. It’s just a great sports town. The fans treat the players like they’re family.”
