NFL power rankings: Vikings, Eagles top list
26. Chicago Bears
The Bears have talent, and they could be this year’s Rams. The problem is Mitchell Trubisky has to make a significant leap, Matt Nagy has to be excellent immediately, Allen Robinson must stay healthy, and Trey Burton has to cash in on his potential. That’s a ton to ask in the loaded NFC North.
25. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are going to underwhelm. Why? Derek Carr is good, but he’s not great. His skill players are largely old and slow. The defense has Khalil Mack and a ton of older veterans who are stopgap more than starter. Factor in Jon Gruden wanting to play like it’s 1998, and you have problems.
24. New York Giants
This Giants team is tough to figure. With Eli Manning, Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram, Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard, the offense is loaded. However, the line still has questions even after the additions of Will Hernandez and Nate Solder. The defense also has to prove itself after being rancid a year ago. New York could be a playoff contender, or the wheels could come off again.
23. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jameis Winston has to stop turning the ball over. That happens, and the Buccaneers are much improved. However, the NFC South will keep them down some, because Tampa Bay is the weakest of that four-team group. Defensively, though, this should be an improved team with Vinny Curry, Vita Vea and Jason Pierre-Paul joining the fray.
