10. Jacksonville Jaguars

This year will be a major test. Blake Bortles has to be better, now facing a first-place schedule instead of a last-place slate. We all know the defense is elite, but can the offense do enough to hold off an improved division? Color me concerned until Bortles plays well for an entire season.

9. Green Bay Packers

This ranking is an ode to Aaron Rodgers, because if the Packers even had a “good” quarterback, they would rank around 20th. Instead, they have the game’s most talented player, and so they are regarded as a threat to reach the Super Bowl. If Rodgers stays healthy, nobody wants to see Green Bay in January.

8. Houston Texans

The Texans are tantalizing. They have so much talent on both sides of the ball, but health is the big question. Deshaun Watson, J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, Whitney Mercilus and Tyrann Mathieu are all either coming off injuries, surgeries or have major injury backgrounds. If Houston stays healthy, look out.

7. Atlanta Falcons

It would have been reassuring to see the Falcons beef up along the lines this offseason, but the roster is still superb. Atlanta has an embarrassment of riches offensively and arguably the fastest defense in football. The Falcons should make their way into the playoffs once more and be a very tough out.
