1. Aaron Rodgers won’t sign a new deal

Relax Packers fans, this prediction doesn’t mean Rodgers is going anywhere. It only means that he won’t be signing the massive contract extension most fans are counting on this offseason.

At some point, the two sides are going to hit an impasse over Rodgers’ desire for an opt-out in his new contract. There’s no way the Packers should give that to their franchise quarterback. Their priority in all this has to be keeping Rodgers in a Packers uniform for the rest of his career.

When Rodgers fully realizes he can’t get that from the team, it’s going to slow the process down for him. While he’d like to get a raise this season, the better move will be to guarantee a high season for as long as possible. That might motivate Rodgers to push for five years after his current deal. Replacing one of the early years could take on less importance.

Next: Packers have no incentive to give in to Rodgers' demands

In the end, Rodgers is going to sign a new deal with Green Bay that will keep him with the Packers for his entire career. The negotiations aren’t going to be smooth though. Expect Rodgers to delay signing a new deal until he gets the price and years he wants. That might not happen until next summer.
