DraftKings Main MLB Picks June 6: This is the right spot for McCullers
We have a full Wednesday with five early games and ten night games. That means the return of the all day tournament on DraftKings, but the action is in the early and the late individual ones. This will look at the ten main slate games. We have some big name pitchers out there. The middle tier is weak, so where is the value to pay up? Let’s see what we can find out!

There is no rain in the forecast for tonight, and very little wind. The wind will be blowing in at 12 mph in Arlington. It will be brutally hot, so it will feel good for the fans, but it could suppress power tonight.
We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!
These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. Stacking against a bad pitcher is always a good idea!

Next: DraftKings Pitcher Plays
Top Tier:
Aaron Nola ($11,400): It’s tough to shell out this much, but Nola has been dominant this year. And with the wind likely blowing in in Wrigley again, it will help keep things in the park. Nola has a 2.18 ERA (2.46 on the road) with 74 strikeouts in 78.1 innings pitched. Surprisingly, Nola has never faced the Cubs, but this is about as good of conditions as you could ask for in a Wrigley debut. There is strong potential here.
Shohei Ohtani ($11,100): The upper tier is loaded tonight, but Ohtani against the meager Royals offense is very tough to pass up. Ohtani has a 2.35 ERA in four home starts anyway. He also has 33 strikeouts in 23 home innings. This is going to be a disaster for the Royals. Ohtani may only give us six innings, but I bet he flirts with 30 DraftKings points against this offense.
Lance McCullers Jr. ($10,500): McCullers is still one of those pitchers that you mostly have to play the matchups with, but this is one where you definitely want him. The Mariners are only hitting .178 in 101 at bats against McCullers with only one homer and six runs to go with a whopping 39 strikeouts. McCullers is my top play of the night. This looks like a very reasonable price to pay for him in this situation.
Jack Flaherty ($10,200): Well, we know Flaherty is getting at least 15.25 points for five innings pitched and the win. Anything else is just gravy, and there could be a lot of gravy. The Marlins offense is still not very good, and Flaherty should have at least a three run lead by the time he takes the mound a second time. His ability to just cruise along in this game could make his game score better than usual since he can afford to be aggressive. However, that could work against him too.
Middle Tier:
Daniel Mengden ($8,400): The Rangers are hitting .250 off of Mengden in 44 at bats, but they only have three runs. The eight strikeouts is low, even for this price range. However, there isn’t much in the middle tier. Mengden’s road numbers and a subpar start in Texas earlier this season are mildly concerning though. That said, Mengden’s road ERA is still a solid 3.54.
Jake Odorizzi ($7,300): Odorizzi held his own against the White Sox earlier this year, picking up 17.4 DraftKings points in that game. There is still enormous strikeout potential here, and Odorizzi’s ERA is half a run lower at home. For this price, I’ll take that kind of production again. I also think ownership will be lower since the Indians destroyed him last week.
Bargain Pitchers:
Sonny Gray ($7,000): It has been a rough season in the Bronx for Gray, but he has a solid 3.67 ERA on the road in five starts. The bad news is that the Blue Jays have lit him up this year. However, almost all of that was done in Yankee Stadium. The Jays are still only hitting .209 against Gray in 115 at bats with only two homers and seven runs. The problem here is that Gray doesn’t get enough strikeouts to bail him out if he struggles. There is pretty significant risk here, but since it’s not at Yankee Stadium, Gray could have a solid outing.
Bartolo Colon ($5,600): Long before he was Big Sexy, Colon was flirting with Cy Young awards in Oakland. His numbers against his former team are solid so far, despite the .277 average. The A’s only have two homers and four runs in 65 at bats. Colon isn’t going to get you much for strikeouts anymore, so there is risk here. Especially since this kind of weather is better for hitters than pitchers.
New York Yankees vs. Sam Gaviglio:
Gaviglio has been a solid addition for the Blue Jays, but he has never faced the Yankees. This is a very dangerous offense 1-9. There is no place to rest. Stanton, Judge, and Didi Gregorius always stand out, but I also like Greg Bird and Brett Gardner with a righty on the mound. Aaron Hicks is a solid pivot off of one of the expensive pieces as well.
Boston Red Sox vs. Blaine Hardy:
Hardy has done pretty well so far, but there is a ton of right handed power in this lineup. J.D. Martinez is clearly the top play here. I also like Xander Bogaerts, Brock Holt, Jackie Bradley, and Benintendi, even though there is a lefty on the mound.
Colorado Rockies vs. Sal Romano:
The Rockies scored nine runs last night, so this stadium plays enough like their home park to stack them, even at their inflated prices. Charlie Blackmon once again leads the way. Arenado is the only current Rockie to homer off of Romano. Gerardo Parra and Tony Wolters both have two RBI, but there is a chance that neither one plays. Trevor Story and Ian Desmond are in play as well.
Minnesota Twins vs. Hector Santiago:
The Twins are hitting a robust .381 off of Santiago in 42 at bats with four homers and 13 RBI already. Gregorio Petit and Eddie Rosario both have a homer and three RBI off of Santiago. LoMo has two homers and three RBI. Eduardo Escobar had a huge day yesterday. Don’t be shocked if that carries over. Brian Dozier and Miguel Sano are worth a look because of the enormous power potential against lefties.
Houston Astros vs. Wade LeBlanc:
The Astros are hitting .379 against LeBlanc in their careers, but it’s only 29 at bats. Evan Gattis has already taken LeBlanc deep twice, so he is a great cheaper play. George Springer, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, and Yuli Gurriel round out my Astros stack. LeBlanc has been really good this year, but he also hasn’t faced a loaded offense like this one.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Wei-Yin Chen:
I tried to buck his road trend last week in San Diego in my points league. I ended up losing points in San Diego! Chen’s road woes are facts, people. His 12.21 road ERA could get even worse with the right handed hitters in this lineup and guys like Matt Carpenter who can hit anything. Obviously, Carp and Pham start the engine for this beast. Jose Martinez, Yadier Molina, and Marcell Ozuna polish off the stack. Yairo Munoz is also worth a look if you are moving off of Yadi.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Ian Kennedy:
So, the Halos stack didn’t work last night. I’m willing to go back to the well since they have eight homers and 23 runs against Kennedy in 152 at bats. I’m not paying $6k for Trout with all of the other options out there. For instance, you can get Kinsler for just $3,500 and he has two homers and five RBI off of Kennedy. So for $2,500 less than Trout, you can get two homers and five RBI compared to Trout’s 2-12 mark with zero homers and one RBI. Justin Upton and Zack Cozart are worth playing here as well.
Next: Other notes for 6-6
Top Tier:
I’m not going to stack Pirates against likely starter Brock Stewart, but I certainly like Austin Meadows, Starling Marte, and Corey Dickerson against him.
Jon Gray‘s numbers on the road aren’t as good as you might think and they certainly aren’t good enough to trust him at Coors East. Joey Votto and Suarez have both homered against Gray. I like them both in Cincy as well. Scooter Gennett is also in play since he is 5-9 off of Gray in his career.

Middle Tier:
I don’t know that I distrust Trevor Williams enough to stack against him, but I definitely want the scorching Matt Kemp in there against him. Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger look like good options as well. Chris Taylor and Yasiel Puig have homered off of Williams before.
Daniel Palka homered off of Jake Odorizzi earlier this year. Odorizzi has the platoon advantage against most of this lineup, but I would still consider Abreu as well.
Jose Quintana‘s evil ERA at Wrigley (6.66) has me considering a stack, but if the wind is blowing in, there are better options at most places. I do like Cesar Hernandez batting leadoff here. Carlos Santana is worth a look too, especially when you consider he has a homer and five RBI against Quintana. So is Maikel Franco at a bargain price.
Teoscar Hernandez is the only current Blue Jay to homer off of Sonny Gray. He has two of them in just five at bats! Kevin Pillar is a solid 6-20 off of Gray, and could be worth a look as well.
Bargain Shoppers:
You will be happy to know that it is the cheap Tigers that have hit Eduardo Rodriguez hard. We have to save somewhere! James McCann has two solo homer off of Rodriguez in just seven at bats. Jose Iglesias has homered off of him as well. So has Nick Castellanos, but that is his only hit in nine tries against Rodriguez.
Rougned Odor is still mired in a slump, but he does have three career RBI against Daniel Mengden. Adrian Beltre is worth a look here as well.
Kyle Seager is the only Mariner to homer off of McCullers so far, and he has half of the RBI. The rest of his teammates are 10-77 with no homers, three RBI, and 32 strikeouts.
