3. Josh Huestis

Sticking with their “all the arms” defense, current Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Josh Huestis fits the bill. Huestis is a good defender with some offensive upside. He was never given a real chance in Oklahoma City, but when he did play, many fans were wondering why he didn’t play more.

Huestis won’t command a big salary and would be a perfect guy for Milwaukee to buy-low on.

Milwaukee is thin at small forward behind Khris Middleton. Shabazz Muhammad is currently their backup small forward, but he’s scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. Chances are, he’ll demand some team give him the max. Huestis would replace Muhammad as the backup small forward and come without the headache of having to deal with Shabazz Muhammad.

The 26-year-old can play shooting guard, small forward, or power forward depending on the matchup and circumstances. He’s a good one-on-one defender, both in space and in the post. Milwaukee fans certainly remember him defending Giannis Antetokounmpo in crunch time during the regular season. Huestis was smart enough and strong enough to force Giannis out of bounds in the post, though the refs missed the call.

He’s raw offensively, but that’s mainly due to a lack of NBA playing time. What he lacks in instincts, he makes up for in athleticism. He can be an effective screener and slasher, while occasionally hitting from three.

He’d cost Milwaukee next to nothing and could be a diamond in the rough for a team with limited financial resources.
