2. Wayne Ellington

Along with failing to rebound, Milwaukee failed to hit 3s. They were 25th in 3-pointers attempted during the regular season and 22nd in 3-point percentage. Taking and making 3s was not an issue for Wayne Ellington. He ranked seventh in attempts, shooting 39 percent.

There’s a cheat code in NBA 2K that I’m going to let you in on. Play Giannis Antetokounmpo at center and surround him with shooters.

Offensively, it’s nearly unstoppable. No center in the league can guard him one-on-one on the perimeter. And if another defender comes over to help, he’s a good enough passer to find the open man from 3. Milwaukee cannot employ this strategy for two reasons. First, Jason Kidd. Second, they didn’t have the shooters.

Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, Malcolm Brogdon and Tony Snell were better shooters in theory than in practice. Scratch that, they are probably good shooters in practice. They are better shooters in theory than in a game.

Aside from rebounding, the Bucks have to address their 3-point shooting woes. It doesn’t matter if your primary ball-handler can’t shoot from 3. If he’s surrounded by guys who can, the lanes open up for him. The Bucks had a top ten offense despite a lack of spacing. That’s a testament to Antetokounmpo’s powers. Now, give him some spacing, and watch the NBA world crumble at his feet.

Ellington would be the ideal candidate for Milwaukee, but there will be other shooters on the market. If they miss out on him, Marco Belinelli or Seth Curry can fill the void.
