Martin Brodeur playing in a Philadelphia Flyers sweater is borderline blasphemous. However, the Broad Street Bullies need to address their annual revolving door of goaltenders. Brian Elliott, Michal Neuvirth, Alex Lyon and Petr Mrazek combined for a .904 save percentage, the 10th worst team save percentage in the league.

The Flyers have an above-average blue line and great forwards. If they had a goalie, they’d be Stanley Cup contenders. In his prime, Brodeur was the kind of goalie the Flyers could use right now.

Brodeur holds most goaltending records. These marks include most wins (691), most games played (1,266) and most shutouts (125). Brodeur won four Vezina Trophies during his career. Only Hasek has won more since general managers started voting for the award. Brodeur won three Stanley Cups during his career and took the Devils to five Stanley Cup Finals.

The Flyers have been cursed by bad goaltending for a while now. They’ve tried to solve it in a variety of manners. The Flyers have tried splurging in free agency. They’ve tried developing goalies. Nothing seems to work. Brodeur is known for being one of the most consistent and durable goaltenders of all-time. The revolving door would stop with him. With Shayne Gostisbehere, Ivan Provorov, Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek and Sean Couturier leading the way, Brodeur’s just what Philadelphia needs to bring the Stanley Cup to Philly.
