Golden Knights vs. Capitals live stream, Game 5: Where to watch online
By Simon Vacca
The Vegas Golden Knights host the Washington Capitals in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. Here’s everything you need to know to watch.
On Monday night, the Washington Capitals defeated the Vegas Golden Knights by a final score of 6-2 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Strong performances from the likes of Evgeny Kuznetsov, Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, John Carlson, Braden Holtby and Devante Smith-Pelly was the central avenue through which the Capitals snatched victory to command a 3-1 series lead.
For the Golden Knights, Game 5 is do-or-die time. The task at hand will be particularly difficult, given the fact that the Capitals have shut down Vegas’ passing in the offensive zone. One can bet that Gerard Gallant’s men shall look to turn things around by marrying offensive strength with defensive responsibility — as such, expect Jonathan Marchessault, Reilly Smith, William Karlsson, Colin Miller, James Neal and Nate Schmidt to nail their two-way matchups. If Marc-Andre Fleury manages to echo some of the prowess that he showed in the previous rounds, the momentum could very well shift in the Golden Knights’ favor.
For Washington, Thursday night’s contest is an opportunity to translate dreams of a Stanley Cup victory into a reality. The game has the potential to be the most important matchup of not just the 2017-18 campaign, but also the most significant 60-plus minutes in Capitals history. The team’s best players have been slowly but surely earning the respect from the hockey world that they have long deserved, so expect Barry Trotz’s men to keep their feet on the gas.
Who knows? This might be the night that Alexander Ovechkin silences the critics and forever enters into the ranks of hockey legends.
After all, Lord Stanley’s trophy will be in the building.
