Fortnite Friday: Battle pass week 6, Fortnite Pro-Am tournament, bouncer traps
Fortnite Friday is a weekly review of what is going on in the world of Fortnite. We cover the battle pass challenges, new game modes and any update information you need to know.
Fortnite Friday is a weekly column covering everything happening around the popular 100-person multi-player showdown game, Fortnite Battle Royale. Every Friday, we’ll provide you with a cheat sheet for the weekly battle pass challenges, a “spark notes” version of the updates, new game modes, as well as some highlights from the week’s game play.
This week, the Blitz and 20v20 LTM’s carried over from last week, the new challenges are hard, but not as hard as getting that trap kill was, and the game has introduced a new feature: the bounce pad. We also tell you how and when to watch the upcoming Fortnite Pro-Am tournament that has added more big names to the draw. Let’s start with the battle pass challenges.
Battle pass challenges: Week 6
1. Search supply drops (0/3) – Oh boy. If you and the squad weren’t fighting over these before, you will be now. This is a flat out mean thing to do, Epic.
2. Deal damage with shotguns to opponents (0/1000) – This one is pretty easy. Don’t bother trying too hard for this one because you’ll get it in a couple of matches. If you’re lucky, you might even get this in one match if you are good enough (I won’t because I’m not).
3. Search Chests in Loot Lake (0/7) – There are a lack of chests at Loot Lake, or at least they are spread out wide enough to make this task annoying. Like the Lonely Lodge challenge before this, just chip away.
4. Spray over Carbide and Omega posters (0/7) – This is the tricky/tedious challenge of the week. The posters are spread out in buildings all over the map, but of course, you are here because you don’t want to search for them all. Here is a detailed tweet providing all of the locations:
5. Search between a playground, campsite and footprint (0/1) – Just by hearing the footprint, you know the general area, but here is the location of the battle star:
6. SMG eliminations (0/2) – If you aren’t familiar with the SMG’s, they shoot very quickly for little damage. Try to be in close range with these weapons as the less room for error/movement, the more damage you will do.
7. Eliminate opponents in Retail Row (0/3) – Retail is an OG busy landing location. Get in there and get dirty. This shouldn’t take long if you grab a weapon and take to the street outside the shops.
Limited time game modes
Blitz and Teams of 20 are still the two available LTM’s carried over from last week. Here are the descriptions if you missed the Week 5 post:
Teams of 20 LTM – This is basically a mix between your 50 v 50 and Squads. There are five teams of 20 going at it. It’s fun if you want to mix it up once in a while. There are five battle busses coming in to keep teams relatively close.
Blitz LTM – In the Blitz LTM, the storm is faster, there is more loot and the bus flies lower, so it takes less time to drop in. The entire game is played in less than half the time of a regular game and it’s pure chaos (the storm closes fully in 15 minutes). If you love stress and hate strategy, Blitz is your game. You can play both duo and solo in this mode.
E3 2018: Fortnite Pro-Am
The Pro-Am has added a ton of celebrities since last week’s column and we’re now at a full 50 teams. The tournament takes place on Tuesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET and can be streamed on Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Mixer. You can get all your Pro-Am information here. Be sure to get to a screen for this because it’s going to be amazing.
Update v4.3 patch notes
Bouncer trap – The bouncer trap is like a building version of impact grenades. If used creatively, it can be effective. See below:
Shotguns nerfed (kind of) – Shotgun damage was slightly lowered because the people at Epic believed that they were being used too often. Have no fear, the damage only dropped by five points (95/90 and 85/80) and the headshot multiplier by 0.5 (from 2.5 to 2.0).
Trap damage is back up – After receiving a truckload of backlash over reducing trap damage, Epic has upped the damage from 75 to 150 points. This is 25 higher than it was originally. Epi worded the reasoning perfectly in the updates notes by saying ” The change sparked a great deal of excellent discussion about traps and we are going to lean more into improving their effectiveness.”
Translation: We got torn to shreds on Twitter for nerfing traps and we are very sorry.
Another notable is that Jet packs are being vaulted on Monday, June 11. So have fun with those while you can. The rest of the update patch notes can be found here.
Elimination of the week
This week’s EOTW is insanity. As they say, haters gonna say it’s fake:
