Simona Halep won her first Grand Slam on Saturday, defeating American Sloane Stephens in three captivating sets, and the world congratulated her.
World No. 1 Simona Halep is a Grand Slam winner to go along with the top ranking. After losing to Carolina Wozniacki in the Australian Open, and watching the Danish player achieve the long awaited world No. 1 and maiden Slam simultaneously.
Halep can also now silence the critics who said she would be never be a closer, she would never erase the footnote along her top ranking — always a world No. 1 without a slam. She and Woz have both achieved the confidence booster in the same year. Both number ones, both Grand Slam winners.
