World Cup 2018 power rankings
By James Dudko
17. Denmark
Denmark will be led by the artistry of Christian Eriksen, who is coming off an outstanding season with Tottenham. The natural playmaker helped himself to 11 assists, while showing a keener eye for goal than in recent seasons, finding the net 14 times.
Eriksen’s creative touch will dovetail well with Celta Vigo schemer Daniel Wass. The pair can free the pace of winger Pione Sisto and keep burgeoning star striker Kasper Dolberg supplied with chances.
Even with 20-year-old Ajax ace Dolberg available, the Danes’ forward line will miss the power of Nicklas Bendtner. The Rosenborg attacker suffered an injury late in the season, robbing Denmark’s squad of a considerable aerial threat.
There will at least be some power and aggression along the defense. Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen can continue the considerable development he’s made this season.
Skipper Simon Kjaer is never afraid to attack the ball in the air, while Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel still commands his area well.
