1. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are the only team on this list that leads their division. However, they’ve lost 5 of their last 8 and are only up by a half-game on the Cubs. This offseason, they brought in Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich in an effort to jolt their offense. These moves showed that the Brewers were serious about winning this year. This year they were going to do everything they could do dethrone the Cubs in the division while hopefully making a deep playoff run. For a while, they looked like they would do just that.

However, these recent struggles have brought the issues with their team to light. Despite the fourth best bullpen in baseball, with the ultimate postseason multi-inning weapon Josh Hader in it, the rest of the pitching staff hasn’t been able to do its job. The starting pitching is 17th in baseball so far in June.

That isn’t going to cut it for the Brewers the rest of the way. They have averaged just over 5 innings from their starters in June, taxing their elite bullpen. It is an unsustainable model for the team and could cause them to have a drastic fall of the rest of the season. They have to bring in better starting pitching if they want to maintain their success into and through the playoffs. Someone like Cole Hamels would be perfect to help the Brewers this year.
