Atlanta Braves

Mike Moustakas, 3B

The Braves are shocking the world. Their loaded farm system has already come into its own and they lead the NL East over the expected runaway favorite Nationals. They have a top-5 offense and a top-10 pitching staff. So what more do they need?

With more young arms filling their farm system, the Braves should look more to offense. More specifically, third base is an area of concern, with Johan Camargo’s .224 batting average being expected to carry the load. Left field is also an area to look at in the short term after Ronald Acuna’s injury. However, with Charlie Culberson and Preston Tucker able to platoon in left field, they will be able to hold down the fort until Acuna returns. Nobody is coming to replace Camargo.

Unless of course, they trade for Mike Moustakas. The idea has been floating around for a while and everything about it makes sense. Moustakas is on a one-year deal, the Royals are ready to trade players for prospects, and the Braves need a consistent third baseman. Outside of his .271 batting average, Moustakas brings welcome experience to the Braves. None of their key players have had extended postseason runs outside of Markakis in 2014. Moustakas has won a World Series.

So, his offense and experience make him the best player for the Braves to bring in via trade this year.
