Washington Nationals

Adam Jones, OF

The Nationals started the season very slowly, but are now streaking back in the division. They need to be all in this year, it may be the last one they have Bryce Harper. Luckily for them, they appear to have a complete roster that only lacks offensive production in center field.

Michael A. Taylor is a plus defender, but hitting .202 is not going to get the job done. However, pairing him with an offensively skilled enter fielder could allow the Nationals to improve their offense through another big bat. Adam Jones is on the last year of his deal in Baltimore, and won’t have to go far to join the Nationals.

Jones has seen his walk rate go down this year, but maintains a pretty consistent wOBA of .331, which is well above Taylor’s .278. Bringing him in would make the Nationals one of the hardest lineups to face. They would be in a position to finally make their World Series run with Bryce Harper.

They already have the second-best ERA in the National League, only .02 out of first place. This would take an offense that is 7th in the NL, without Daniel Murphy, and help take it to top-5. A top-5 offense and top-5 pitching staff would make the Nationals a dangerous team if they bring in Adam Jones.
