Chicago White Sox

Chris Archer, SP

The White Sox are supposed to be the future of baseball. It was to be them and the Braves battling for years to come with their talented farm systems. Well, the Braves have arrived to the party early, while the White Sox are sitting well below .500. With rumors that they may be planning to trade Jose Abreu and/or Avisail Garcia, their team could look very different next year.

The White Sox need to bring in a pitcher who can make an impact for the next few years. Their farm system’s hitting talent will be able to carry them for a while, but pitchers are a question mark. That, the White Sox have learned with Lucas Giolito’s struggles this year. So, they need someone established.

It makes sense that they try to acquire a starter, Chris Archer, more than a reliever like Raisel Iglesias so that they can lead the other young pitchers on the staff. Archer would bring production and leadership to the White Sox. Even though he is having a down year, he doesn’t actually have to suddenly rediscover his top-tier form with the White Sox.

He would be able to use this year to work out all of his problems, returning with vigor next year to lead a White Sox playoff push. He would get to do it against a weak division, unlike the American East. The AL Central is a division which Archer has a 2.84 ERA against this year. Chris Archer would be the White Sox ace of the future.
