With the news surfacing that Kawhi Leonard wants out of San Antonio, teams are scrambling to get deals ready. Of course, one of those teams is the Boston Celtics.

Kawhi Leonard has reportedly become uncomfortable with the Spurs organization and wants out of San Antonio. Bad news for them, but good news for any other team that needs one guy to get them over the hump.

Of course, any time there’s a player that could possibly be on the trading block the Boston Celtics have to get involved.

The Celtics are one of the few teams with an abundance of assets to make essentially any trade happen. Still, Boston won’t be the only ones trying to get in on the Leonard sweepstakes, but there could be some mutual interest.

If you hadn’t heard, a few days ago it was reported that the Celtics tried to get Leonard during the trade deadline. They offered a deal to the Spurs, but they declined the trade and never sent a counter offer.

Leonard wasn’t going to help the Celtics last season seeing as he didn’t play a game after Jan. 13, but he would still be under contract for them.

Now that Leonard wants out of San Antonio they might be interested in sending that counter offer. Leonard does not have a no-trade clause so the Spurs can send him there with no problem.

As stated previously, the Celtics won’t be the only ones vying for the small forwards services. The Celtics will have to contend with teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers among others.

If the Celtics were to pull off a trade for Leonard the Spurs would need a pretty healthy return for him. It will be interesting to see how this plays out on both sides.
