Seattle’s Fantasy Sleeper That Should Feast in 2018

Looking for a big fantasy sleeper ready to burst on the scene in 2018? Look no further than Seattle’s Tyler Lockett.

Fantasy owners who were seduced by Lockett’s speed and early success have been let down. Lockett’s 2016 season was cut short after he suffered a disastrous injury. Turn the page to the next year; he was never really fully healthy for his 2017 campaign.

Fantasy Sleeper: Disappointment

This is going to be the year to go all-in on Tyler Lockett. And, if you live outside the Pacific Northwest, you should be able to snag him pretty late in your draft. Lockett could very well be a diamond in the rough that pays off big, especially in leagues that have big play bonuses.

Lockett isn’t only going into a contract year, but he’s also coming into this season as Russell Wilson’s only real #2 option to Doug Baldwin. Sure, the Seahawks have brought in veterans like Brandon Marshall and Jaron Brown, but Lockett is going to have every opportunity to earn the targets opposite Baldwin.

Russell Wilson has always done best when he has a true deep threat. Tyler Lockett’s speed makes him the best, and maybe only option in Seattle to fill that role. Wilson is also at his best when the run game is successful, setting up chunk plays off of play-action. Seattle’s re-commitment to the run by way of bringing in noted run-first offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, a new beefed up offensive line that adds 6’5″ 345 lb. guard D.J. Fluker, and first round pick Rashaad Penny, will keep secondaries on their heels and open up deep passes for Lockett.

If the Seahawks are going to be successful in their rebuild, they have to have some staying power in their draft picks. Paul Richardson’s departure to Washington leaves the door wide-open for Lockett to emerge as a home-grown talent that can earn a second contract in Seattle. He’ll need a strong 2018 campaign to do that. Everything is lining up for him to do just that. It’s time to buy in on Tyler Lockett.
