WWE Money in the Bank 2018: Preview and predictions
By Luke Norris
SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
Carmella (c) vs. Asuka
The SmackDown Women’s Championship bout featuring Carmella defending her title against Asuka certainly isn’t the most high-profile women’s match on the card but I’m at least hoping for something here. I think Carmella is doing the best that she can right now as champion, even if her in-ring work could still use some improvement. I will say that she’s looked better than she did even a year ago when she won the Money in the Bank briefcase and it was quite shocking to see her pick up a clean win over Charlotte Flair at Backlash, something that Asuka wasn’t able to get done at WrestleMania. So there’s a little bit of story here.
I actually thought that Asuka would beat Charlotte at WrestleMania 34 and remain undefeated for a while but I guess that wasn’t in the cards. But on the other hand, she hadn’t lost a match since coming to WWE so I suppose she was due at some point. And there are worse people to lose to than Charlotte Flair.
Prediction: My first prediction is that Carmella will scream…a lot. I know that’s part of her character but given the fact she’s now the champ and has beaten Charlotte Flair clean, it’s likely going to be worse during this match. She’s ready for Asuka and is certainly going to let everyone know about it. With this being somewhat of a big show, I can see Asuka finally getting her first title on the main roster here so I’ll go with that.
