In a shocking turn of events, WWE has decided to release William Morrissey, also known as Big Cass. This comes off from only two days since his second PPV loss to Daniel Bryan.

Big Cass may have had a lot of detractors for his ability in the ring, but this comes as quite a shock — WWE has put out a statement that Smackdown star Big Cass has been released from the company.

“WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey,” WWE stated on their website.

It’s worth noting that WWE did not state for the best of luck for Cass’s future endeavors, which is what they usually do when they release superstars. However, this could indicate that Cass may have gotten himself into some trouble with WWE, as Cass has had a history of rumored heat towards the organization behind the scenes.

Not too long ago, Cass’s former tag partner, Enzo Amore, who also had a long history of rumored heat with WWE, was also fired by the company over sexual abuse allegations. However, in Cass’s case, the details of his release are not known at this point.

Even though his release may comes as a surprise to some people, for a wrestler who’s had many detractors for ability and questionable booking during his feud with popular star Daniel Bryan, to whom he lost on two PPV matches in a row, it was going to be difficult for Cass to get on a certain level for fans to take him seriously.

While he was somewhat popular when he teamed up with Amore, when he was given the push as a singles star, there was a perceived notion that he was only getting this treatment was due to the fact that he had size, rather than his talent.
