9. Mike Green

Mike Green is going to hit the free-agent market again after spending the last three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. He’s coming off a deal which paid him $6 million per season and his game has fallen off a bit, so don’t expect him to get close to that this offseason. Green used to be a top pairing defenseman in his days with the Washington Capitals, but that time has passed. He’s now a good second to third pairing defenseman who can also quarterback one of the power play units on a team.

He had more than 30 points in each season with the Red Wings and reportedly does have an offer on the table from them. It’s still a wait and see, though, as he may want to go to a cup contender as Detroit is rebuilding. For his career, his CF percentage is 53.1, which is very good and with Detroit, it was 50.5 percent, which isn’t bad.

There will likely be many teams lining up for his services since teams always look to upgrade their defense and he can still provide offense. Look for him to get a short deal like he got in Detroit, just not near his $6 million per season he got.
