UFC Singapore: 5 Keys to Victory for Donald Cerrone

While Edwards is by no means a boring fighter, he doesn’t have the same aggressive tendencies as the “Cowboy.” For better or for worse, this has gotten Edwards to where he is in the UFC with six out of his nine fights going to the judges. Cerrone on the other hand has only had nine out of twenty-seven UFC bouts end up in the hands of the judges.
One of Cerrone’s most influential attributes is his tactical and ever pressing pace, where he crowds the opponent with technique until they make a mistake. This was especially evident in his last fight against Yancy Medeiros where in only one round, Cerrone managed to pounce on Medeiros’ relatively slow starting style.
Only four of Edwards’ victories have come in the first round, hinting that he doesn’t necessarily come out of the gates with guns blazing. Therefore it would suit this cowboy well if he did come out swinging and keep pressing Edwards until he falls into a typical Cerrone trap.
