. F. Duke. Zion Williamson. 1. player. 125

This season was a really fun one in college basketball, with veteran teams like Gonzaga, Virginia, North Carolina and Villanova equally as dominant as young, surprising squads in Lubbock and Clemson. But get one thing in your head right now: none of that — and nothing we’ve seen in recent memory — will be as downright enjoyable as Williamson’s NCAA career.

Even if it lasts just one season, as is expected for any freshman with this much talent these days, it will make up for being short by being outstandingly fascinating, with enough highlights to fill every day between Blue Devil games.

Williamson comes to Durham with as much name recognition as any freshman in recent memory, having lit up the internet a half-dozen times already with emphatic dunks. He will be the guy to watch when the season starts.

As for Duke itself, coach Mike Krzyzewski will have a supreme balancing act to perform with this team in 2019. His challenge of figuring out how to space the offense and play good defense with Marvin Bagley III and Wendell Carter Jr. this past season pales in comparison to juggling Williamson, Cam Reddish and R.J. Barrett alongside point guard Tre Jones.

All that considered, teams will be reasonably infatuated with Williamson’s combination of size, finishing ability, pull-up touch and quickness in the lead-up to next year’s draft. It’s safe to say we’ve never seen anyone like him.
