Houston Astros third-baseman Alex Bregman apparently shaved his mustache mid-game on Sunday while they were playing the Kansas City Royals.

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman is sans mustache after mid-game barbering on Sunday, much to the dismay of fans … including me.

Bregman stepped up to the plate against the Kansas City Royals in the second inning with a fairly noticeable light-brown mustache. He was walked that at-bat and would end up scoring after Yuli Gurriel hit a grand slam just two batters later.

Then, in the fourth, he was spotted at the plate with the upper-lip hair cleanly removed.

So., did he shave in the dugout? Do they have razors and shaving cream down there? Did José Altuve help him? Did he lose a mid-game bet?

I have so many questions!

Was this some weird baseball superstition, or did he just get over the Tom Selleck look super fast?

Clearly, it didn’t do him any good, because he was called out after a fly ball to center was caught, then in the sixth, he grounded out to first. Perhaps he was thrown off by lack of facial hair and instantly regretted his decision.

I’m really hoping that before this game ends he comes out with a huge fake Groucho Marx fake mustache to just make everyone lose their minds.

The Royals won their first World Series last season when they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers via one of the most exciting series, and Game 7, in years.

The Astros were leading 9-2 at press time, so it wasn’t even like the team needed some good luck. As for whether it will pay off down the road for Bregman, who is only batting .263 but does have 11 home runs, we’re just going to have to wait and see.
