3. Nick Young

“Swaggy P” in Celtic Green? Please, basketball Jesus, put this thought in Ainge’s mind to make this happen.

As mentioned earlier, one of the Celtics biggest needs this offseason is 3-point shooting off the bench. Boston doesn’t have a lot of reliable 3-point launchers, and their inability to spread the floor in the second unit keep them out of the Finals last season. We already noted that the Celtics should go to Goodwill and pick up capable 3-point shooters, and Nick Young will be waiting, sitting beside the well-played VHS cassette tapes at the back of the store.

Young is not shy about launching 3s, and his “shoot-at-will” mantra was a more of a gift than a curse to the Golden State Warriors last season. He brought spacing to the Warriors second-unit, and now that the stink of losing has finally been washed off of him, he can go to another contender to contribute.

Granted, Young will command a high price than some of the other options on the table, but Young is a pure shooter, and defenders will be wary of leaving him alone, which will open up the floor for Tatum, who, with Hayward coming back, will become the Celtic’s sixth-man.

Make it happen, Ainge.
