DraftKings Main MLB Picks June 25: Play Snell at home!
We have a busy Monday with ten evening games. There are even two afternoon games for those adventurous types! Needless to say, the options are much better in the evening. We have a couple of the best pitchers in the league going, and the return of a young strikeout artist. How do we build here? Let’s check it out!

Rain shouldn’t be a threat to any of the evening games, but we do have some wind going on. The wind is blowing in from left in Citi Field. It is blowing in at 15 mph in Arlington, which could temper the power a little.
We will provide you with several options to build your lineup here. Want to spend all your money on pitchers and play bargain bats? We will highlight who is worth the money. Want to punt arms and pay up for the big boppers? We can help you with that as well, and everything in between!
These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. Stacking against a bad pitcher is always a good idea!

Next: DraftKings Pitcher Plays
Top Tier:
Mike Foltynewicz ($11,800): I’m not sure how big I am on Folty here, but the upside, especially the strikeout upside, is legit. The Reds are only hitting .182 in 44 at bats with one homer, two runs, and 14 strikeouts against Foltynewicz. The Braves haven’t announced any limitations, so I understand the appeal of going with him, especially in GPP tournaments. The Braves may pull him if the Braves get a sizeable lead by the fifth though.
Mike Clevinger ($11,100): When Clevinger is on, he has as good of stuff as anyone on the slate. Yes, Verlander is pitching. Clevinger has never faced the Cardinals, but he does have a 2.27 ERA in seven road starts. There is good potential here, but I understand not wanting to test the waters against the Cardinals. Still, prior to yesterday, the Cards had only scored ten runs in four games. There is the potential for another electric outing from Clevinger.
Blake Snell ($10,100): When Snell is at home, PLAY HIM! Snell has a 0.96 ERA in six home starts this year. The Nationals lineup is struggling a bit, so this would seem to be the time to go after Snell here. He held the high-powered Astros to only one run in Houston in his last start. There is good strikeout potential here as well.
Middle Tier:
Cole Hamels ($9,900): So, uh, if you look up domination in the dictionary (do they still have those anymore?), there is Cole Hamels vs. the Padres. The current Padres are a pathetic 1-29(.034) against Hamles with five strikeouts. Hamels has not been great this year, but he will sure look the part here. Thinking about Hosmer? Don’t. He is 0-13 lifetime vs. Hamels.
Jameson Taillon ($7,900): Is Taillon back on track? He has a 3.63 ERA over his last ten starts, and has not allowed more than three runs since May 22nd. The Mets offense is still riding the high that Coors gave them last week with a decent offensive showing against the Dodgers. Taillon’s only start in Citi Field was eight shutout innings, and not one current (healthy) Met faced him in that game. I like the upside here tonight.
Seth Lugo ($7,100): Lugo has been brilliant at home this year. In 30 innings at Citi Field, Lugo has a 0.90 ERA. Yeah, some of that is in relief, but it’s still dominance. His rough outing in Coors could temper ownership, but it really shouldn’t. Lugo has decent strikeout upside, and is facing a Pirates team that scored just six runs in a four game series against Arizona.
Bargain Pitchers:
Felix Hernandez ($7,000): Hernandez threw a wrench into everyone’s DFS picks last week when he shut down the Yankees in Yankee Stadium. He still has some life in him, more specifically his fastball, after all! This is a pretty good spot for King Felix, despite the bloated 6.98 road ERA. Baltimore is hitting .260 off of Felix, but they only have four homers and 16 runs to go with 45 strikeouts in 154 at bats. There is good potential here against a righty heavy lineup.
Shelby Miller ($6,500): Ewww! Shelby Miller! Gross! Hear me out. Miller couldn’t have picked a better place to return. The current Marlins are only hitting .233 off of Miller in 43 at bats with one homer and three runs. Miller will likely be on a pitch count being this is his first start since April of last year after Tommy John surgery, but there is solid potential here. He is a GPP only play though since there are plenty of other decent options.
Dan Straily ($4,500): Ever since mankind invented fire, he has been playing with it. There are DFS pyromaniacs as well. Those will use Straily today. There could be something to it today. The Diamondbacks are hitting just .122 in 49 at bats off of Straily with one run and 15 strikeouts. The bad news is that Straily has a 6.22 ERA at home. How?? That’s an extreme pitcher’s park!
Seattle Mariners vs. Andrew Cashner:
Cashner’s 5.22 home ERA leaves this open for stacking. Especially since the Mariners have a lot of potential in this offense. The Mariners are hitting .269 off of Cashner. Kyle Seager has two homers and six RBI off of Cashner already. Cruz and Mitch Haniger have both homered off of Cashner as well. Jean Segura has four RBI in two steals. Denard Span has driven in five from his time in the A.L. East.
Atlanta Braves vs. Tyler Mahle:
Mahle keeps right on struggling, but the Reds don’t really have any other options. Now he has to make a start at SunTrust Park, which is almost as hitter friendly as his home digs. I’m a big fan of Freddie Freeman here. He and Kurt Suzuki have homered off of Mahle before. I’m also on Ender Inciarte and Ozzie Albies here, and Nick Markakis is rarely a bad option with a right hander on the hill.
Texas Rangers vs. Joey Lucchesi:
It isn’t as humid in Dallas tonight, so the Padres are bringing in a BP pitcher. That will keep those Rangers bats going! Odor, Jurickson Profar, Elvis Andrus, Choo, and DeShields are among my favorites tonight. Robinson Chirinos is very tempting as well.
Cleveland Indians vs. John Gant:
Gant has a 4.97 ERA at home, and this is a very potent lineup. Cleveland doesn’t have the DH in this one here, so that will remove Edwin or Yonder Alonso, but I want whichever one starts. Lindor, Brantley, and Jose Ramirez are definitely in play. For a cheaper play, I like Yan Gomes as well.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Duane Underwood, Jr:
Underwood has a 4.27 ERA at AAA Iowa this year, and makes his major league debut at Dodgers Stadium. I don’t see this ending well. I really want Matt Kemp and the simmering Cody Bellinger here. Puig has always hit righties better, so throw him out there too. Justin Turner and Joc Pederson are in play as well. So is Grandal. You can stack a Dodger at any position tonight.
Next: Other notes for 6-23
Top Tier:
I don’t really trust Loaisiga in his first road start after Seattle beat him up at home. Odubel Herrera is still on a tear, and could be worth paying up for. Dylan Cozens is tempting, but there is plenty of risk there.
Vince Velasquez has been pitching pretty well lately, and offers good strikeout upside. However, I’m not starting him against the Yankees. Stanton has homered off of him from his time in the N.L. East, but that is his only hit off Velasquez in 12 at bats. I would take my chances with Judge if using any Yankee hitters.
I don’t really trust Happ against Houston. I know that Snell shut them down last week, but the stats don’t support this. I’m not stacking them though. Carlos Correa is 4-9 with a homer and two RBI. Both Altuve and Evan Gattis have also homered off of Happ. After that, I’m not really touching Houston. It’s the expensive guys or nothing tonight.
There are a couple of reasons that I’m not going to stack against Kenta Maeda here despite the Cubs hitting him hard. First off, Maeda wont be in the game all that long. The Dodgers do have a pretty good bullpen, so I’m not all that crazy about the Cubs. Still, I like Rizzo and Bryant both here. Beyond that, there are better options.
If Brandon Nimmo is out of the lineup, I don’t really see a Met worth using against Jameson Taillon.

Middle Tier:
If Mark Trumbo is in the lineup, look out. Trumbo is 10-39(.256) with three homers and nine RBI off of King Felix. Colby Rasmus is 7-12, but only has one RBI to show for it so far.
The Pirates are struggling, but Austin Meadows is still tempting with a righty on the hill.
Gio Gonzalez has high strikeout upside, but I don’t trust him. The Rays are only hitting .200 off of him, but they have eight runs in only 49 at bats. Gio also has a 11.25 ERA in three appearances at the Trop. However, only C.J. Cron is really on my radar to use from a hitter’s standpoint. The power of Matt Duffy could be worth a look too.
Bargain Shoppers:
I’m a big Verlander fan. Who isn’t? However, the Blue Jays are hitting .282 off of him in 124 at bats with nine homers and 25 runs. The strikeouts are there, but with so many other good options, I don’t see the reason to pay up with these kind of past stats. Justin Smoak has three homers off of Verlander. Grandy has two. So does Kendrys Morales, but he has ten RBI in 44 at bats against Verlander. I wouldn’t use all of them, but Morales and Smoak are really cheap and have really good potential here.
I’m a pretty big fan of Justin Bour facing Miller in his return here. Bour is about the only power threat, so I’m not going to stack against Miller. I still think he has a decent game.
