DraftKings PGA: Quicken Loans National Picks & Analysis
DraftKings PGA: Quicken Loans National
There are just certain courses that fit Bubba Watson’s game. The Travelers Championship is one of those courses. Bubba loves Bubba tracts. My guy Paul Casey faltered down the stretch once again, as he entered the final day up 4 strokes and ended up losing by 3.
This week, the PGA tour returns this week to TPC Potomac just outside of Washington DC for the Quicken Loans National. Last year, Kyle Stanley held off Charles Howell III in a playoff last year to capture his first win since 2012. The course played quite difficult last year, with only 22 golfers under par and Stanley finishing at -7 for the tournament. TPC Potomac proves to play just as difficult this year. The Par-70 course measures around 7200 yards, the fairways are tight, the greens are fast, and the field is relatively weak. The 2017 leaderboard tended to favor longer hitters, but precise tee and iron shots will be the difference this week. Bomber ball-strikers who can grind out pars should dominate your core this week.
Quicken Loans National Key Stats
The keys stats that I am focusing on this week for Quicken Loans National DraftKings PGA GPP contests:
Tee to Green: Strokes Gained
Scoring: Strokes Gained
Approach: Strokes Gained
Off the Tee: Strokes Gained
Birdie or Better Par 4: Strokes Gained
Scrambling: Strokes Gained
As always, you should be building your own models. FantasyNational.com and FutureOfFantasy.com are great tools to use.
The reason why I chose these key stats is because I believe this course will suit bombers that are accurate off the tee and on approach. On difficult courses I also like to include scrambling and scoring into the mix. I weight SG:BOB Par 4 because it is a par 70 course (12 par 4’s) and DK scoring favors BOB.
Quicken Loans National – Golfers to Target
Rickie Fowler $11,700
My model loves Rickie Fowler this week. Rickie ranks in the top 20 in the field in every category that I am weighting except SG:OTT, which he ranks 29th. Rickie is in solid form, with 5 top 25’s in his last 6 starts (in much more difficult fields). Fowler will look to improve on his 3rd place finish at this tournament in 2017.
Marc Leishman $11,200
Leishman burned all 15% of his owners (me included) last week at the Travelers, but my model loves him this week and I do too! Leishman does just about everything well that I am looking at this week. My only gripe is that his off-the-tee game has been bad this year, but this is a course where he doesn’t need to break out driver on every hole. Leishman will look to improve on his T5 finish at this tournament in 2017.

Byeong Hun An $8,600
I love me some Bennie An. He is top 10 in the field TTG, APP, OTT, and Scoring. If he can strike his putter as well as he strikes the other clubs in his bag, then he will have a chance to grab his first PGA Tour victory. An finished T29 at last year’s event, and has made 4/5 cuts with a playoff loss at the Memorial.
Gary Woodland $8,100
Woodland is a bomber ball-striker that appears to be rounding back into form. After 4 straight missed cuts, Woodland has put together a T23 at the Memorial and a T36 at the US Open. Let’s hope that he can carry that momentum to a high finish this week.
Values to Target
Matt Jones $7,600
Matt Jones is my top value play this week! Jones has made 6 of 8 cuts, boasting a T13 at the Byron Nelson and a T19 at the Travelers. In both of those events, Jones was owned <1%. Although his ownership will be higher this week, look for the Aussie to improve on his 2017 T38 at this event.
Rory Sabbatini $7,400
Sabbatini’s 15 consecutive cuts made streak came to an end last week at the Travelers. If the missed cut means depressed ownership, then we need to exploit it. Sabbatini has been striking the ball excellently off the tee and is one of the best scramblers on the tour. He is the type of grinder that you need for this difficult tract.
