4. Can they handle a very tough schedule?

The Jets schedule is miserable this year. No matter what anybody thinks of the Jets, whether they think it’s an eight-win roster or a three-win roster, the numbers of projected wins can only drop with this schedule.

They have the unfortunate blessing of facing Matthew Stafford, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, and Kirk Cousins this year. Despite the secondary being expected to lead this team, that is a challenge for anybody. Marcus Mariota will come at them with a different skill set for the Jets defense to try to cope with.

Even if they are able to cap those quarterbacks and opposing passing attacks, teams are going to be coming after them in all sorts of ways. The Jaguars, Broncos, and Vikings boast defensive fronts that will likely tear the Jets offensive line to shreds. The Bills will try to run the ball down the throat of this defense.

The Jets are going to have to think differently every week while grinding out wins on Sundays in order to stay in the playoff hunt this year. When looking at New York’s schedule, there is no game that one can definitively say it should win. That is a scary thought and one the Jets may not be able to handle.
