2. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have wanted Greg Monroe for years. New Orleans was one of the franchises most linked to Monroe in trade rumors when he was a Buck, when he essentially lived on the trade deadline.

The Pelicans may just be at their best when they feature Anthony Davis and four shooters. Those lineups certainly seemed impressive during New Orleans’ sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers. That being said, the Pellies have always been interested in putting a big, bulky center next to AD.

It may sound outdated, but there is logic in having another big man to take some of the hits that come from manning the middle for an 82 game regular season. Sometimes a team has to pick a star’s health and energy over their absolute peak performance for every single game.

If New Orleans is still interested in a big center, Greg Monroe would still fit the bill. In a lot of ways he is a more affordable version of Boogie Cousins, and cost is of vital importance to the eternally cash-strapped Pelicans. The Moose and The Brow doesn’t have the best ring to it, but maybe it’ll sound better with time.
