Golden State Warriors — J.J. Redick

The Warriors, for as few weaknesses as they have, need playable wings. Shaun Livingston has a cap on his effectiveness at this points. Andre Iguodala isn’t getting any younger and the Nick Young experiment didn’t really work. Maybe Patrick McCaw had a better year next year and maybe rookie Jacob Evans is trustworthy right way. Those are big maybes.

Jamal Crawford makes a lot of sense here too, but Redick fits better. It’s unclear how much the Warriors are willing to spend on a team that is getting more and more expensive, and maybe that takes them out of the running for Redick. Redick is 34, so he’s not quite done yet, but is likely running out of time to sign bigger contracts, even if they are for just one or two years.

But if Redick does decide he wants to pursue a ring above all else, and Golden State pays him enough to make it worth his while, he’d fit perfectly. He’s not a great defender, but is solid enough. He’s great spotting up, just waiting for open shots or running around screens. And it’s easy to picture him splashing wide-open 3s when teams double-team Stephen Curry or Kevin Durant. Plus, Redick would be good Klay Thompson injury projection. He could be what the Warriors hoped they could turn Nick Young into.

What happens with the 76ers and their cap space may dictate Redick’s free agency more than anything else. But if it works out, he’d be a perfect fit in Golden State.
