Detroit Lions: Kid Rock

Robert James Richie was born in Romeo, Michigan and since then, his love for everything Detroit has been on display for the world to see. Better known to the masses as Kid Rock, Richie has become one of the more famous singers in the world, and his journey to superstardom began in Detroit.

The 47-year-old entertainer began his career by appearing in talent shows all over the Detroit area. Once he finally made it to the pinnacle of his craft, he never strayed far from Detroit, singing about his city in his songs, and donning Lions gear on television.

In fact, Kid Rock actually wrote the song “In Detroit,” which became the anthem for the Detroit Lions franchise. In addition the song, Kid Rock has performed the national anthem at Lions games, and is always a fixture on the sidelines during the regular season, and those rare times the Lions make the playoffs.

When it comes to Detroit, you have to think that Eminem and Kid Rock are the two main public figures that are synonymous with the city. Eminem has said that he is a Lions fan, but when it comes to putting that fandom on display for the world to see, nobody outdoes Kid Rock.

The Lions actually made the playoffs two years ago, and last year, they barely missed out on locking up another Wild Card berth. They have one of the better quarterbacks in the game in Matthew Stafford, and they have done a nice job building the roster this offseason, which could lead to them being back to playing meaningful games in January.
