Green Bay Packers: Lil Wayne

Born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., Lil Wayne has blossomed into one of the best rap artists in the history of the genre. Known for his incredible lyrics, and distinct voice, Wayne has also spring-boarded some of the biggest acts in rap today, like Drake and Nicki Minaj.

From New Orleans, you would think that Weezy would be a Saints fan, as the team has been pretty solid for most of his adult life. However, while his fandom has ties to the Saints, it is the Green Bay Packers who are his favorite NFL team of all-time.

Here is how the story goes. Wayne’s Dad watched the Packers beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXI in the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, and adopted the Pack as his favorite team. His son, Carter Jr., followed in his Dad’s footsteps, and now has to be considered the most famous fan the team has.

During his childhood, Wayne would play as Brett Favre in Madden, and has even gone out of his way to create songs to pay homage to his beloved Pack. When Wiz Khalifa made up the song Black and Yellow for his Pittsburgh Steelers, Wayne created Green and Yellow, as the two teams met up in Super Bowl XLV.

For Wayne, that was a sweet Super Bowl, as the Packers came out on the winning end of the biggest game of the year. Finding out he was a Packers fan came as a shock to me when writing this piece, but once I found out, he had to be listed in our ranking,
