Pittsburgh Steelers: Wiz Khalifa

Black and Yellow. Black and Yellow. Black and Yellow.

Sure, we all know the lyrics to Wiz Khalifa’s major hit from 2010, but did you know that it is actually paying homage to his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. In fact, Wiz wanted the song to be the anthem for the Steelers, and have even performed it in front of the crowds at Heinz Field.

The 30-year-old rapper grew up as a military kid, moving from city to city before landing in Pittsburgh. It is the Pittsburgh area that became Khalifa’s home, and after growing up watching the Steelers, he had a love so deep that arguably his biggest hit of his career is based around the colors of his favorite team.

Khalifa is a constant at Steelers games, and the City of Pittsburgh has shown love back to the rapper. In fact, the city named Dec. 12, 2012 as Wiz Khalifa Day, which is quite a testament to how the city feels about him.

In 2011, when the Steelers were taking on the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV, the team used Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” as the anthem for their team. The Packers, headlined by Lil Wayne, used “Green and Yellow” as their anthem, which is an obvious remix of the Khalifa hit.

The Steelers and their terrible towel waving fans are some of the best in the NFL, and Khalifa, right now, is their most famous fan.
