Fantasy Baseball Week 15 Top Two-Start Pitchers

This article looks at some two-start pitchers for the upcoming week that you should consider for your Fantasy Baseball team.

Nathan Eovaldi– Tampa Bay Rays

Starts: at Miami, at New York Mets

Nathan Eovaldi is coming off a dominant performance against the Nationals in which he struck out nine and gave up only one hit over six innings. He didn’t allow a hit until two outs in the fifth inning and to top it off, he out-pitched Max Scherzer. This week, Eovaldi has two favorable matchups against the two worst teams in the National League in the Marlins and the Mets. Both teams have really struggled to score runs all season, especially at home. The Rays overall as a team have been red hot, winning 8 out of their last 9 games against the Yankees, Nats, and Astros.

Robbie Ray– Arizona Diamondbacks

Starts: vs. St. Louis, vs. San Diego

Robbie Ray, like Eovaldi, is coming off a solid start, as he pitched six innings of scoreless ball against the Marlins on Wednesday. It was his first start since April 29, as he was on the DL with a strained oblique. Both the Padres and Cardinals have had pretty underwhelming offensive seasons. Both have high ground ball to fly ball ratios, and both are in the bottom half of the league in runs scored and extra base hits. The Cardinals also have the lowest batting average against lefties in all of baseball, and the Padres have the third lowest OBP against lefties.

Alex Wood– Los Angeles Dodgers

Starts: vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Los Angeles Angels

After going 1-4 with a 4.48 ERA through his first 12 starts, Alex Wood seems to be turning a corner. He has won three out of his last four starts and has brought his ERA down to 4.00 in that stretch. In each of those four starts, he has allowed no more than two earned runs, and struck out 21 while only walking three. Furthermore, both the Pirates and the Angels, after getting off to great starts this season, have struggled as of late. Both teams did not score a lot of runs in June, and both have dealt with various injuries throughout the season.

Kyle Freeland– Colorado Rockies

Starts: vs. San Francisco, at Seattle

Rockies pitchers are usually unpredictable, but Kyle Freeland is as close to a safe bet as you’ll get. For almost any pitcher, Coors Field is usually a nightmare. However, it is anything but that for Freeland, who has a 4-2 record with a 2.95 ERA at Coors this season. He doesn’t strike out a lot of hitters, but he does average a little more than six innings per start. These two starts should favor Freeland in different ways. San Francisco has not been great on the road, in overall record and runs scored and Seattle, while being one of the best teams in the league, plays at Safeco Field, which is known as a pitcher-friendly park.
