Miami Marlins: J.T. Realmuto

When Derek Jeter started running things in South Beach, the Miami Marlins saw most of their talent leave the team via trades. Jeter moved guys like Christian Yelich, Giancarlo Stanton, and Marcell Ozuna to name a few, leaving the Marlins with very few assets remaining.

One player who avoided the firestorm is catcher J.T. Realmuto, who just happens to be one of the best backstops in all of baseball. Realmuto is not only a tremendous player behind the dish, but he is also one of the best hitting catchers the game has to offer, and would bring back a ton of assets if the Marlins decide to trade him.

The 27-year old Realmuto is currently hitting over .300 this season, and is being paid peanuts for the kind of production he brings to the Marlins. Making under $2 million, Realmuto is going to be a very sought-after talent this trade deadline, and maybe Jeter and company can actually swing a deal to bring the team some talent.

The Marlins season is over, as they are fighting with the New York Mets to be the worst team in the NL East this season. While the team does play with a lot of heart, they are basically a triple-a ball club, and just do not have the experience to win big games at this point.

Who knows if Jeter will end up fixing things with the Marlins. Right now, he is just trying to get the organization to stop bleeding money, and while he has done a nice job in that respect, the product on the field is just not in a position to win games right now.
