MLB Trade Deadline 2018: One player on each team likeliest to be dealt
By Brad Weiss
Minnesota Twins: Brian Dozier
Last season, the Minnesota Twins surprised everybody in Major League Baseball, as they took a team that was expected to finish towards the bottom of the AL Central, and ended up being a Wild Card team. Manager Paul Molitor was named American League Manager of the Year, and although they lost in the one-game playoff, it appeared the stage was set for a solid run in 2018.
Unfortunately for fans in the Twin Cities, the Twins have been a major disappointment this season, and find themselves in a race for the cellar in the AL Central. Issues with inconsistent play, and some injuries have really derailed the team this season, and they could be sellers at the trade deadline.
One player who could net a pretty bid return is Brian Dozier, who has put together some nice seasons during his time with the team. Dozier was an eighth round pick of the Twins back in 2008, and really worked hard to become a force in the middle of the Twins lineup.
In 2016 and 2017, Dozier combined to hit 76 home runs, establishing himself as the premier power hitting second baseman in all of baseball. Now 31-years old, and with the team in a rut, the Twins could trade away the former All-Star, especially with him becoming a free agent after the 2018 season.
Minnesota has a strong coach in Molitor, and they do have some nice chips in the farm system. Dozier is a player who can really help a contender, and though he has not hit for a high average this season, he still has the ability to plant one over the fence every time he comes to the plate.
