MLB DFS Picks – Standouts: July 3rd
Tonight’s MLB DFS Picks slate features 12 games with, Colorado (6.2), Houston (6), San Fransisco (5.9), Cincinnati (5.7), and Cleveland (5.3), holding the best projected team totals. With expensive pitchers like, Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, available, finding value will be crucial for success tonight. We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, line movement, and stolen base upside.
MLB DFS Picks: Batted Ball Stats
Yoan Moncada – DK $4000, FD $2900
Yoan Moncada will draw an enticing matchup tonight, against the righty, Anthony DeSclafani. Moncada struggled to produce from a fantasy standpoint in the end of June, however, his batted ball stats would indicate that he’s actually been hitting the ball better than his numbers would lead you to believe. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 24 feet, his exit velocity is up 2 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 11%, over his yearly average.
Batter Splits
Joc Pederson – DK $4600, FD $3300
While he’s not really in play on DraftKings, at $4600, Joc Pederson will be a viable option on FanDuel, at $3300. Pederson will draw an advantageous matchup against the righty Ivan Nova. Perderson is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .364 wOBA split (.155 better than when facing a lefty) and a .277 ISO split (.212 better than facing a lefty).
Roberto Perez – DK $2600, FD $2000
Roberto Perez makes for an interesting value play on DraftKings tonight, at only $2600. Perez will draw an attractive matchup against the lefty, Danny Duffy. Perez is much better against left-handed pitching, with a .405 wOBA split (.162 better than when facing a righty) and a .306 ISO split (.159 better than when facing a righty).
Line Movement
LA Dodgers
The LA Dodgers will host the visiting Pittsburg Pirates, in a game in which the Dodgers opened as -220 favorite. The line has moved has moved even further towards the Dodgers, and now sits at -245. In addition to the movement on the side, the total has also risen. The game total opened at 7 runs, but has since moved up a half of a run, to 7.5 runs. The Dodgers put on a show last night, recording 17 runs, and it appears as if bettors think this trend is likely to continue tonight.
Stolen Base Upside
Billy Hamilton – DK $3400, FD $2600
This is one of the more enticing matchups, as Billy Hamilton and all of the Cincinnati base runners, will benefit from facing the righty, Lucas Giolito. Giolito has surrendered 15 stolen bases over the course of 84.2 innings pitched this year. That is tied for the second most stolen bases allowed in the majors. Billy Hamilton has the most stolen bases on the Reds, with 15 (13th most in the league), but other base runners such as Jose Peraza could also benefit.
