Randall Park will play Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but how exactly does the character have a connection with Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD?
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has been on the air since 2013, but the popular show has yet to get the connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it
2018 could be the year that all of that changes, however, as Ant-Man and the Wasp will introduce a new character with a clear connection to SHIELD in Jimmy Woo.
Woo, who will be played by Randall Park, is an FBI agent in the older comics who eventually joins SHIELD. This is the first time that he will be introduced to the MCU, and, with Hank Pym and Jane (from the original Ant-Man) already mentioning that they are a part of SHIELD, this film will likely be SHIELD heavy.
Another connection between Park, Woo and Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD is that Park is the star of the current ABC series Fresh Off the Boat. Sure, this is not a direct connection, but Park’s prior relationship with ABC could make him someone that the network really wants to bring into the Agents of SHIELD fold.
I have yet to be completely convinced that Woo will have much to do with Agents of SHIELD, as it is rumored that there is some tension between the movie and TV divisions. This is just a rumor, but it could explain why we have yet to have any mention of Agents of SHIELD characters in the MCU — especially since there have been mentions and appearances the other way around.

Will this be the moment that we finally see the characters from Agents of SHIELD referenced on the big screen? Who knows. But we will all find out when Ant-Man and the Wasp is released on July 6.
